Harappa: 4,500 Years of Gold Craft Near Sahiwal
About 25 km west of Sahiwal lies Harappa, one of the main cities of the Indus Valley Civilisation. Excavations there have found gold beads, ornaments and jewellery-making tools, showing that goldsmithing in this part of Punjab goes back more than four thousand years.
